ERIca tursi
Erica Tursi is a compelling performer and dedicated violin/viola educator. She earned her Bachelor of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music with instructor William Preucil. She also became Suzuki Certified in books 1-10 and pre-twinkle at the Sato Center for Suzuki Studies at CIM. She went on to receive a Master of Music from the Juilliard School with violinist Catherine Cho, and a Graduate Diploma from the New England Conservatory’s prestigious Professional String Quartet Program where she studied privately with Donald Weilerstein and Soovin Kim. She completed her Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Maryland, where her research focused on the evolution of solo violin repertoire during global pandemics. She has held chamber music residencies at Yale University, New England Conservatory, and University of Maryland, working closely with students and faculty to support vibrant, collaborative learning environments.
A founding member of the Omer Quartet, which garnered international recognition before concluding its tenure, Erica was a winner of the Young Concert Artists International Auditions and has performed throughout the United States and abroad. Her notable engagements include appearances at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Morgan Library, Bravo! Vail Music Festival, Stanford Live, and the Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi. She currently performs as a substitute with The Philadelphia Orchestra, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and Princeton Symphony Orchestra.
Erica is a dedicated teacher who helps young musicians succeed in today’s competitive music landscape. She is on faculty at Kinhaven Music School and previously taught at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School and the music program at Holton- Arms School. She assisted teaching students in the undergraduate programs at Yale University and University of Maryland. Her students have been accepted to top conservatories and have won concert master, assistant principal, and associate principal positions in both violin and viola sections in All South Jersey and All-State Orchestra in NJ, where she previously taught. She is passionate about the transformative power of music for young people and guiding each student along a path that is uniquely theirs.
