Student of the Month Adriana

May 2016

Current Repertoire: Mozart Violin Concerto 5, Faure Sonata, Telemann Fantasy 9

What's your favorite part of playing the violin?  I love being able to communicate through music. I've always loved the feeling of performing and sharing something unique with an audience.

What's your favorite part of being in Elizabeth's studio? There's a special feeling of family in the studio that I haven't seen anywhere else at this level. We all want to see each other succeed and be happy, and so even though we compete in the same competitions and have similar goals, everyone is always super supportive and helpful towards one another.

What's your most memorable performance?  My first solo recital (freshman year). This was the first time I had ever put together an entire program, and it was an incredible feeling to have a whole recital to share with everyone.

What's your dream piece?  Chausson’s Poeme

What do you want to be when you grow up?   I want to study how music affects the brain because I think it's really important to be aware of how important and valuable music can be to everyone.

Who's your favorite composer and why?  I love Brahms. His concertos are so beautifully  put together, and I especially enjoy the double concerto. I love listening to how each solo part interacts with the other, and trying to discern the intricacies of the orchestral background.
